Q:i honestly feel all the idol system is unfair and the companies are not that gd , dnt get me wrong am not approving jaechunsu doing not at all , but at least the FTC looked at the length of the contracts and tried to make it better , see the whole academy idol thing does have some unfairness , they shouldnt lock them from the start , at least give them a couple of months to try and allow change companies , and the profit maybe after a while become gd , but they really dry the idols out
this law suit opened alot of eyes from future idols and parents and all , but also was a step back ward and allowed ppl with greed to succeed more , i do believe it infected the whole industry but ppl are not dealing with it write because they need a whole new system for the idol business that is growing now, it is sad how ppl try to destroy sm bcz of this not looking to the whole picture and viewing other companies and new ones who treat there idols worse and they may not succeed
and it is sad seeing ppl and industry (such as kbs) giving in to jyj and encourage them just bcz of there fans power , call me sensitive but u can feel how ppl to now treat YH&CM with a grudge or like i dunno just not thet respect , and how all wanna be gd to the shining knights boor dnt have money only there fans that will pay 400 dollar for a remake of a cd they already have „ i knw all ppl now are envy sm and i do believe its not the best company in terms of treat, but the bigger pic got lost
Here’s what I think about fair and unfairness… it’s relative. Many would say that the idol academy system is unfair, but many would say that the idol system is fair, I am one of them.
Why do I say this? Many people blame extensive contracts as a way to ‘lock’ these talents, when at the same time, these extensive contracts binds the company to the talents as much as the talents are bound to the company.
If they were signed for a few months or a few years, something short term, do you think any company would invest in them in terms of training etc when they can’t even be sure if they could profit from it? How many idols we know just disappear after having a hit or a successful album? This is in part because the company doesn’t invest in their future, why should they if the talent is just going to leave them after a few short years? This is when talents truly become cash cows, where all companies care about is their profit and won’t bother with things like trainers, or sending them to school. They don’t care about the artist’s improvement, they just care about their balance.
Humans are like that, we’re economical beings. Let’s say we rent an apartment during college. We know we will live there for 4 years and leave afterwards. Would we spend a lot of money to ‘vamp it up’? We would probably just invest enough so we can live comfortably. When there’s anything that needs to be fixed, we go to the landlord to fix them, no way we would want to pay more than is necessary.
Compare this to a house we buy and plan to live in for 20-30 years. Wouldn’t you spend your money on renovations, modifications, furniture and other things that makes it your home? You know you’ll be in it for the long haul, so you do more than just be comfortable, you make it your own. You are more committed to the house because you invest in it.
The system could be improved on, the contract could be even better, but unless they were forced to sign with a gun on their heads, the contract were fair enough at a point of time. As people grow up, they might want different things, so what was fair when they were 15 might no longer be fair when they were 22. That’s okay, it’s normal.
And I do agree that this case brings about awareness, that future idols can be more careful in signing their contract if they are not certain they can fulfil it, but for me, to judge the whole system to be corrupt simply based on this case is unfair to the system…
I think one of the biggest problem is that some fans become too emotionally invested in the lawsuit. Like you said, they seek more to destroy SM than to actually seek for a middle ground that can improve everyone’s lives… It’s selfish in a way, but it’s human ^__^
